Submission Manuscript Guidelines:

The quarently journal “Farmacja Współczesna/Contemporary Pharmacy publishes articles in the borderline between the pharmacy and the medicine that focus o­n doctor’s and pharmacist’s co-operative aspect.

Instructions for authors

  1. Only paper written in polish or English are accepted
  2. “Farmacja Współczesna/Contemporary Pharmacy” publishes original paper and case reprts in wchich the knowledge in the etiology, the pathophysiology and treatment of ageing related diseases is developed.
  3. The journal also welcomes review articles, descriptions for educational purposes, academic seminar reports, communications and letters to the Editors.
  4. In scientific investigations involving human subjects, experiments should be performed in accordance with the ethical standards formulated in the Helsinki Declaration. . Informed consent for the research must have been obtained from all participants and all clinical investigations. For papers involving human subjects, adequate documentation should be provided to certify that appropriate ethical safeguards and protocols have been followed according to the responsible Bioethical Committee o¬n human experimentation (institutional or regional). Names should not be published in written descriptions, photographs, sonograms, CT scans, etc., and pedigrees unless the information is essential for scientific purposes and the patient (or parent or guardian) gives written informed consent for publication.
  5. Manuscripts are received with the explicit understanding that they are not under simultaneous consideration by any other publication. Submission of an article implies that the work described has not been published previously.
  6. The dates of submitting and acceptance for publication are labeled at the end of the manuscript.
  7. Submitted manuscripts are reviewed by impartial experts to determine their originality, scientific merit, and significance to the field.
  8. Reviewers will remain anonymous, but their comments will be available to authors.
  9. There are several types of decision possible: accept the manuscript as submitted; accept it with revision; accept it and invite the authors to revise the manuscript before a final decision is reached; accept it with encouragement to resubmit it after extensive revision; outright rejection.
  10. Page proofs with reviewer remarks will be sent to corresponding author for examination and corrections.
  11. Information about acceptance the manuscript for publication will be sent to the corresponding author.
  12. Corrected proofs should be returned to the Editor within two days of posting by the Editor. Authors are responsible for obtaining the Editor’s permission for any changes in the time for returning proofs.
  13. When submitted manuscripts are not accepted for publication, they will be destroyed according to the Editorial office schedule.
  14. The Editors reserve the right to make corrections in style and nomenclature without author’s permission
  15. Authors should return the final, revised manuscript by e-mail: redakcja@akademiamedycyny.pl o¬nly. Author must send the electronic version (e-mail) and o¬ne copy of the submitted manuscript in the A4 format typed o¬n o¬ne side of the page o¬nly (font Times New Roman, 12 point, do not justify lines).
  16. Manuscripts of original papers should not exceed 10 pages, review articles – 12 pages, case reports – 8 pages. o¬ne page is generally limited to 1800 characters including spacing.
  17. The electronic version of the text should be submitted as a MS Word 98 or above. All illustration and scan files should be in the TIFF format. The electronic version should be in accordance to the printed version. For vector graphics are accepted the digital formats of Adobe Illustrator for version 10 and Corel Draw for version 10; for graphs and diagrams – MS Excel or MS Word. Please submit a copy output of all files.
  18. All electronic disks should be labeled with the surname, the paper title, the file name and the postal address of corresponding author(s).
  19. The text and figures must be upload as separate files. Files should be named with the corresponding author’s surname and “text.doc”, “fig 1.doc” , “fig 2.doc”, etc.
  20. Diskettes of applicable word processing package and compression schemes (if any) used should be submitted with the manuscript.
  21.   The paper should be laid out as follows:
    Provide the following data o¬n the title page (in the order given): The title of the article (English and Polish),

    1. Authors’ names and institutional affiliations,
      1. The name of the department(s) and institution(s) to which the work should be attributed,
      2. Keywords (English/Polish, maximum of 6 keywords),
      3. Full postal address of corresponding author,
      4. Abstract in Polish ( maximum length 200 – 250 words in case original works and 100 – 150 in case review articles or clinical cases, the abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions),
      5. Abstract in English ( maximum length 200 – 250 words in case original works and 100 – 150 in case review articles or clinical cases, the abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions),
      6. Source(s) of support in the form of grants, equipment, drugs, or all of these.
    2. Arrangement of the article (for original papers):
      1. Introduction,
      2. Abstract/Purpose of the work,
      3. Experimental/ Materials and methods,
      4. Results,
      5. Discussion,
      6. Conclusions,
      7. Acknowledgements,
      8. References.
  22. Tables, illustrations, vector graphics and photographs should be prepared and submitted o¬n separate pages. All figures should be numbered in the order of their citation in the text and legends should be in Polish and English.
  23. References should exceed in number and should in general be limited according the paper: for original papers – to 20, for review articles – to 40 items. They must be numbered by their order of appearance in the text.
  24. References should be identified in the text, tables, and legends by Arabic numerals in square brackets.
  25. It is allowed to use the following style for the references list: surname and intials of all authors separated by the comma, followed by the full stop, then the article title (or the title of the book), the full stop, the name of the journal should be abbreviated according to the style used in Index Medicus, the year, the semicolon, the volume number, the colon, the space, the first and the last page (for books: the city, the colon, the publisher, the semicolon, the year, the colon, pages). When there are more then six authors, it is listed o¬nly the first six authors, followed by „et al.”, i.e.: 1. Wójcicki J, Wojciechowski G, Wójcicki M, Kostyrka R, Sterna R, Gawronska-Szklarz B, et al. Pharmacokinetics of propranolol and atenolol in patients after partial gastric resection: a comparative study. Eur J Clin Pharmacol 2000; 56: 75-9. 2. Weinstein L, Swartz MN. Authors may cite as references in the references list any material obtained from electronic items.
  26. The paper should be prepared according to the linguistic norms of the Polish and/or English languages. The style of writing should conform to acceptable languages usage and syntax and should be concise and accessible.
  27. Generic international rather than trade names of drugs should be used. Trade or manufacturers’ names should be use o¬nly in the brackets.
  28. All abbreviations should be spell out the first time they are used.
  29.  A paper submitted for publication should be accompanied by a cover letter with a statement by the author(s) confirming that the paper has not been and will not be published elsewhere.
  30.  Each author receives 1 copy of the issue in which the article is published. They are sent to the author(s) free of charge.
  31. Authors should note that there is no fee for the manuscript submission except manuscripts ordered by Editors.
  32. Copyrights. Submission of an article for publication implies transfer of the copyright from the author to the publisher upon acceptance. Accepted papers become the permanent property of “Farmacja Współczesna/Contemporary Pharmacy” and may not be reproduced without the written consent of the publisher. The publisher reserves copyright (including printing, electronic version such as the CD and others, and Internet). Without written permission from the publisher o¬nly abstracts can be published elselwhere.
